About Us
Macau is a unique place - it is situated in China and had been under the Portuguese colonial rule for over 400 years. Hence, it has a cultural influence of Western culture along with the East. Many Portuguese people have settled in Macau and assimilated with the locals. As a result there came a term - Macanese – that is, people mixed Portuguese and local Chinese, who are born and raised in Macau. Throughout the years, Portuguese, Macanese and Chinese people live in harmony.
Fast track to the year 1999, where Macau was handed back to China, a huge celebration took place to celebrate the return of China and to show the world how uniquely multicultural Macau truly is. One of the main attractions is the Traditional Portuguese Folk Dance – whereby a group comprising Portuguese, Macanese and local Chinese came together to perform the Traditional Portuguese Dance. It was sensational with critical acclaim! Upon performing, some members of the group felt that it should continue to promote the Traditional Portuguese Folk Dance and Macau's unique East-Meets-West culture to the world by motivating local people to join and to participate. Therefore, in 2006, Macao no Coração" Associação de Danças e Cantares Portuguesa was founded.
Throughout the years, "Macao no Coração" has been invited by many different Macau governmental departments and local associations for private and public performances and have
always provided outstanding acts. Not only is "Macao no Coração" Associação de Danças e Cantares Portuguesa being well recognized by the locals and Macau Government Tourist Office, our footsteps can also be found all over the world - from major Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Changchun,
Taiwan, Hong Kong to Japan, Korea, Las Vegas, The Philippines etc…"Macau no Coração" is repeatedly invited by overseas organizers and tourism bureaus to annually join tourism-related events and celebrations. "Macao no Coração" shows their passion and love through their
dances and has gain support and fame from the local and overseas audiences."Macau no Coração" strives to continually provide authentic and exceptional stage performances with our greatest effort to promote the folk dance and most importantly, Macau's culture and tourism industry as a whole.
